JSE SHARES

Basic Materials

BHG — BHP Group Ltd

BHP is the world's largest diversified miner, with operations in iron ore, copper, metallurgical coal and potash.

Potential LONG · Entry: R726.50 · Stop R708.54 · Target R750.68 · Reward/Risk ratio 1.3:1

The setup: A double bottom has formed on the daily chart, with the second low at R675.48. Price has broken above the R713.08 neckline, retested it on 5 October and held, and has now closed back above the 50-day SMA. On the MACD, the line has crossed above the signal line from below zero, and the histogram has turned positive, which shows momentum turning up.

Consumer Services

BID — Bid Corporation Ltd

Bid Corporation is an international foodservice distributor, trading as Bidfood across the UK, Australasia, South Africa and other markets.

Potential LONG · Entry: R434.39 · Stop R422.04 · Target R459.89 · Reward/Risk ratio 2.1:1

The setup: Price is trading in an ascending channel on the daily chart and has bounced off the lower channel line. That support sits just above the 200-day SMA at R424.34, so two levels of support are stacked in the same area. The MACD is still below zero, but the histogram is shrinking, and the MACD line is flattening toward the signal line, an early sign that selling momentum is fading.

Financials

SHC — Shaftesbury Capital PLC

Shaftesbury Capital is a London-listed property company that owns Covent Garden, Carnaby, Soho and Chinatown in the West End.

Potential LONG · Entry: R30.07 · Stop R28.52 · Target R33.36 · Reward/Risk ratio 2.1:1

The setup: Price has pushed above the upper line of a falling wedge on the daily chart, after turning up from the wedge support and the lower Bollinger Band. The MACD is below zero, but the MACD line has turned up and is meeting the signal line. The middle Bollinger Band sits just above and is the first hurdle. This entry is speculative until price holds a daily close above the wedge line. The stop sits below the wedge low.

US STOCKS

Material

AXTA — Axalta Coating Systems Ltd.

Axalta makes liquid and powder coatings for vehicle refinishing, new vehicles and industrial applications worldwide.

Potential LONG · Entry: $32.64 · Stop $30.28 · Target $38 · Reward/Risk ratio 2.3:1

The setup: Price has pulled back to the confluence of the rising trendline and the 200-day SMA at about $32.20. It dipped briefly below the trendline on 2 October and recovered straight away, indicating buyers defended the level. The RSI has recovered from oversold territory and is printing a higher low against the price, a bullish divergence that suggests selling pressure is easing.

Financials

FULT — Fulton Financial Corporation

Fulton Financial is a US regional bank holding company, operating Fulton Bank across Pennsylvania and neighbouring states.

Potential LONG · Entry: $22.64 · Stop $21.37 · Target $25.73 · Reward/Risk ratio 2.4:1

The setup: Price is trading in an ascending channel on the daily chart and has tested the lower channel line, which sits just above the 200-day SMA, so the two supports overlap. The MACD is below zero, but the MACD line has stopped falling and is curling up toward the signal line. A bullish crossover has not yet happened.

Health Care

HCSG — Healthcare Services Group, Inc.

Healthcare Services Group provides housekeeping, laundry and dietary services to nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.

Potential LONG · Entry: $21.16 · Stop $19.60 · Target $25.11 · Reward/Risk ratio 2.5:1

The setup: Price has broken above the upper line of a falling wedge on the daily chart and has moved back above the 200-day SMA in the same session. The MACD is below zero, but the MACD line is turning up into the signal line and the histogram is nearly flat, which shows downward momentum fading. The target is near the top of the wedge, where the pattern began. This is a first-day breakout, so it is speculative until price holds a daily close above the wedge line and the 200-day SMA. The stop sits below the wedge low.
